Thursday Ride to Roots

Another Boot and Shoe start today. We were heading for a pleasant coffee stop at Garstang Arts Centre where we are always guaranteed of a warm welcome.

Heading out through the Uni and into Galgate then up Stoney Lane to turn down Whams Lane. A left before the main road took us down Cleveley Bank to join the Trough road which let us drop down through Scorton. A quick journey along Gubberford Lane then Green Lane East saw us arriving at our much needed coffee stop.

Leaving the Arts Centre and through the village a left turn up Dimples Lane let us weave our way to the top end of Lydiate Lane where we dropped down to cross the main A6. A short stretch on St. Michael’s Road saw us going left onto Moss Lane then Benson’s Lane.

At the end we turned right onto Eaves Lane. Using Cuddy Hill, Eaves Lane and Lewth Road we turned down School Lane and into Catforth. After the village, on the bend, a right took us onto Blackleach Lane and another right onto Roots Lane took us to our lunch.

After lunch it was a bit of a meander and I needed the assistance of Ian to wander through the back lanes. Instead of going right out of Roots to Catforth we went left and weaved our way to eventually arrive on Catforth Road where we turned left. At the junction we turned left onto Lewth Road then Preston Road through Inskip. After Inskip we went right onto Pinfold Lane then onto Brock Road and Hall Lane to enter Great Eccleston. Using Cartford Bridge, over the Wyre, we then went up Lancaster Road to Skitham Lane then Longmoor Lane. Nateby Crossing Lane, Croston Barn Lane took us to the traffic lights on the A6 then it was Green Lane East, Gubberford Lane and Station Road to Daisy Clough.

After a much needed break it was Hollins Lane, Whams Lane, Stoney Lane, Galgate, Uni and home.

A great ride in glorious weather and a quiet Roots for our lunch break sat in the sun in the garden with a smashing bunch of mates. Thank you everyone.
