Thursday alternative ride to Roots
/EASY RIDERS – 01/10/26
An easier flat (ish) alternative ride on the Fylde was hastily arranged with the lunch destination Roots Café, the only problem we weren’t sure how to get there but a quick Google search solved that mystery.
So 11 riders departed the Boot and Shoe for the coffee stop at Garstang Arts and 5 continued on. The return route home required crossing the Wyre and the leader being thrifty avoiding the toll at Cartford Bridge and opted to head towards St Micheal’s instead.
En route towards Pilling the group rejected an afternoon café stop but one rider requested a diversion at Cockerham to enjoy an ice cream at Wallings, which was readily accepted.
The ride continued to the Stork at Conder Green where the estuary cycle path was joined for the return back to Lancaster.A good ride of about 55m from the start in the sun shine with a moderate headwind out but an enjoyable tail wind return,
Apart from a few lumps and bumps in the early part of the ride with the altitude gained enhance by the many canal bridges we had to conquer the rest of the ride was virtually pancake flat.
