Thursday Ride from Boot and Shoe to Pilling
/Ride on 22nd January 2026 to Pilling
Lancaster and South Lakes Cycle Touring club
We set off from the Boot and Shoe and went through the University to Galgate. Going up Stoney Lane we past the Fleece then turned right down Long Lane. Although it was my intention to go over the water splash revolving cyclist declined so we carried on through Scorton onto Gubberford Lane over the Wyre and into Garstang for our first coffee of the morning at Garstang Arts
Leaving the arts centre we used Croston Road to cross over the A6 at the lights then using the lanes we arrived on Longmoor Lane. After Nateby village we turned right onto Woods Lane and speeded up ready for the climb over Eagland Hill. In Pilling we used the main road to get to Taylor’s Lane and our lunch stop.
After a pleasant lunch with plenty of gossiping(us men can outdo anyone else at gossiping!) it was down Taylor’s Lane to turn right onto Backsands Lane then right on the main road before a left onto Horse Park Lane to join Garstang Road then Island Lane. Part way along Island Lane two of us went down Whitter’s Lane. At the end of Whitters Lane like the road surface my name was MUD a comments like if you think about using this lane again forget it(and even worse!).
Not wanting to negotiate Cabus Nook Lane, which we have in the past much to our detriment(and wet feet!), we went right to cross the A6 at the lights then it was Green Lane East, Gubberford Lane, Station Road and coffee at Daisy Clough.
Home was via Hollins Lane, Whams Lane, Stoney Lane, Galgate and the University and another ride completed and all after pension day!!! now to dry out.
Anyone who is interested in joining us can find information about our regular club rides on Thursdays and Sundays on our website: www.ctclancaster.
